User Permissions

What user permission levels are in Brandfolder?

There are 4 types of user roles in Brandfolder:

  • Owners: upgrade & manage billing
  • Admins: add/remove users
  • Collaborators: editable users
  • Guests: view & download only

There are 3 types of permissible objects in Brandfolder:

  • Organizations
  • Brandfolders
  • Collections

User permissions flow downward; that is to say, and owner of an Organization is automatically given that level of access to each Brandfolder and Collection within the Organization. The same is true for admins, collaborators and guests.

For example, if you want a user to have admin access to every Brandfolder under and Organization, make them an admin of the Organization, and they will automatically become an admin of each Brandfolder within. The same is true for Collections: an admin of a Brandfolder is automatically granted admin privileges to each Collection within.

You can keep permissions on a high level by granting access to the entire organization or Brandfolder - or you can fine-tune permission levels by creating multiple collections.

Owners are users with full access and are available at the Organization level:

  • Upgrade & Manage Billing (can only retrieve last 4 digits of credit card used)
  • Create / Delete Brandfolders

Admins are users with privileged access:

  • View / Add / Remove Users (including other admins)
  • View / Cancel outstanding invitations
  • Toggle Following Status for all Users
  • Change user permissions for all users on the Brandfolder
  • Change Privacy of Brandfolder
  • View Embed Code
  • Set Google Analytics ID
  • View Events
  • Manage Request Access for Private Brandfolders
  • Rename Brandfolder & Brandfolder URL
  • Add / Edit / Delete Assets
  • Create / Edit / Delete Collections

Collaborators have limited access:

  • View Users of Brandfolder
  • Toggle Following Status only for your account
  • View Embed Code
  • Rename Brandfolder & Brandfolder URL
  • Add / Edit / Delete Assets

Guests are only allowed to view & download assets. For Public Brandfolders everyone has guest access so this is only useful for Private Brandfolders.
